The authentic Violette Mustard is a traditional specialty from Brive, revived by the DENOIX family. It is made with grape must and fine mustard seeds, and is distinguished by its sweet yet spicy flavor. In the 14th century, Pope Clement VI, who was born in Corrèze, recalled that this region produced the famous violet mustard and summoned a mustard maker to Avignon. Messire Jaubertie, from Turenne, was chosen. He succeeded so well in his task that he was named “Grand Mustard Maker to the Pope.”
