This pasteurised goat’s Milk Cheese is recognised by its thin, beige rind with a slightly wavy surface and delicate natural yeast notes.
The name “Crottin” comes from the Berry dialect word crot, meaning “hole”. Historically, this referred to riverside spots where linens were washed. The clay-rich soil found there was once used to shape the moulds used to drain the curds, giving the Cheese both its name and distinctive form.
Delicate yet full of character, Crottin de Chèvre can be enjoyed on its own or used in cooking.
It is particularly good baked in a tart with cherry tomatoes for a simple, flavourful dish.
